The goal of the DNAREPAIRMAN European Training Network is to train a new generation of young, innovative scientists in cutting-edge biophysical research methodology to address key questions in biology about how key molecular mechanisms relevant to human health work. The network consists of a consortium with 12 participants from academia, industry and the creative sector. This environment offers 12 young scientists (ESRs) a multidisciplinary PhD program that includes training in the analysis of the fundamental chemical and physical principles that underlie the correct timing and localization of events during DNA repair.
Individual research projects and personal training plans were developed for each ESR, including a local training program, multiple rotations in partner laboratories, contact with the non-academic sector, and networking meetings. ESRs participated in scientific workshops, transferable skills, career development and entrepreneurship courses, and disseminated and communicated their projects to various audiences in close cooperation with the creative sector.
The result of the DNAREPAIRMAN project is a new generation of mature and innovative European scientists who have a strong understanding of the basic quantitative principles underlying biology, are experienced in developing techniques and are attached to both academic and non-academic environments, providing broad and promising career prospects.
